Story of Lemaye
Forest Glow x Highland Countess
Story of Lemaye, aka 'Harry', was retired from the racetrack in 2001 and made a home at Lemaye with Amy.
He was spelled for 6 months, then commenced training with Amy, under instruction from Simon Kale, with a view to successfully compete him in Dressage.
He was successful alright! He competed at the Royal Canberra Show, and placed in his first year. He then went on to recieve many awards at Official and Unofficial dressage competitions.
Amy realised that this horse was talented, and offered him for sale to local Showjumping guru Grant Hughes. Grant came out and watched Amy ride, and Harry was sold.
New owner and Young rider Nikki Hogan started training with Grant and loved the horse instantly. Nikki is now enjoying time overseas, and sister Amy Hogan has claimed the ride on Harry - even competing him at the 2007 Royal Canberra Show.
What a feat. A retired, run down racehorse, made it to the Royal and competed successfully in both Dressage and Showjumping!
Harry is also special to Lemaye, because his sale started the Float Hire business, allowing us to purchase the very first hire float. Our logo is derived from a photo of Harry to thank him.
Good horse. Good mate.
